a gluten free guide to boca raton

We're not sure how we looked past this one for so long. With culinary and lifestyle blogs featuring everything from Middle Eastern, Smoothies, and even food terminology, it is high time to share the best gluten-free options in Boca Raton with our readers. Gluten-free food, once seen as a niche, needs-based product provided to those suffering from gastrointestinal conditions has entered the mainstream. The overall impact of gluten on even those with no underlying issues is a frequent discussion among nutritionists and dieticians. Whether you're treating Celiac disease or simply looking to reduce grains in your diet, look no further than these Boca Raton gluten-free options for your next meal.

saquella cafe

Saquella Cafe

The quaint and ever-popular Saquella Cafe is an Italian-style espresso-forward bistro in a delightful location at Royal Palm Place. Offering everything from burgers and sandwiches to European-style tapas and cocktails, this cafe does a superb job of providing a large, varied menu without depreciating the vibe they seek to create. Often we see restaurants whose menu becomes too sizable for patrons to easily order, or too varied to maintain their aesthetic vision, but somehow the Saquella Cafe manages to do it all. From vegan falafel platters to bottomless mimosas, this is a gluten-free diner's top choice.

true food kitchen

True Food Kitchen

Found at the main entrance to the Boca Town Center Mall, True Food Kitchen proudly emphasizes its dedication to seasonal freshness, ecological sustainability, and the best of local fare. Their menu is based on the anti-inflammatory food pyramid, of which gluten-free options such as their pizza crust, poke bowl, grilled Korean steak, and so much more. Their simple-to-navigate menu is awash with global flavors made with predominantly local ingredients, with gluten-free options around every corner and clearly indicated on every page.

orion fresh cafe

Orion Fresh Mediterranean

Orion Fresh Mediterranean is one of our favorite lunch spots in the area. Specializing in the "build-a-bowl" style of a fast casual restaurant, their menu features a left-to-right selection of bases, proteins, toppings, spreads, and dressings which hold a variety of options for gluten-free and vegan diners. We particularly appreciate the myriad of ways a bowl can be built to follow the more traditional Middle Eastern path (lentils, falafel, dolmas, and hummus) or any other combination of resplendent global flavors. For dessert lovers and beverage lovers, enjoy the Havana Mojito or the intriguing Baklava Milkshake, Turmeric Apple Juice, or Watermelon. Orion gives visitors the ability to put their hands on the lever between healthy and decadent, a choice we love to have when we dine out.

parlour vegan donuts

Parlour Vegan Bakery

A more dessert-forward locale, Parlour Vegan Bakery is a hit from Davie to West Palm Beach, with multiple locations staffed by cheery bakers putting their best foot forward. Parlour has been the place to enjoy vegan donuts, cupcakes, and even empanadas for years, pacing the ascent of vegan and gluten-free foods in our local market. Their menu is adorned from top to bottom with gluten-free solutions, and their custom ordering menu is a sure hit for anyone celebrating a gluten-free birthday.

blaze pizza

Blaze Pizza

Blaze Pizza is a quick and tidy chain of fast-casual pizza restaurants with locations across South Florida. Founded by Elise and Rick Wetzel of the famous Wetzel's Pretzels chain, Blaze Pizza is similar to Chipotle in how orders are placed and enjoyed. Most notably, Blaze Pizza serves as a mecca for pizza lovers with dietary concerns. While this is not to take away from their value to conventional diners, Blaze Pizza includes 5 specialty crusts, a variety of sauces, vegan and gluten-free cheeses, toppings, and more. Their nutrition calculator and oft-used eco-packaging further cement Blaze Pizza as a forward-thinking place where anyone with any needs can enjoy a hot-fired pizza.

fresh kitchen

Fresh Kitchen (Gluten Free)

We love Fresh Kitchen! Much like Orion Fresh Mediterranean, or perhaps more notably Bolay, The Fresh Kitchen is another fast-casual "build a bowl" style eatery that gives us everything we'd want in a quick order, yet high-quality menu. As the only gluten free stop on our Gluten Free Guide to Boca Raton, we'd be remiss not to point out that a vibrant, delectable meal doesn't require gluten to be as such. Their menu is simple, easy, and carefree to navigate, leaving us spending more time debating flavors than searching for the few or lone menu items that work for gluten-free eaters.

angelos to go

Angelo's To Go

Part of the famed chef Angelo Elia's ever-growing restaurant lineup in South Florida, Angelo's To Go is a far contrast from the likes of Casa D'Angelo, his finest sit-down restaurant in the area. His intuitive, online ordering menu makes gluten-free dining simple, with immediate solutions to common problems such as the roasted garlic spaghetti squash and zucchini noodles on the "build your own pasta" list. Better yet, the pizza selection includes a low-calorie, gluten-free cauliflower crust, while even the prebuilt Italian favorites menu includes delectable gluten-free choices. While the presence of meat and cheese in many Italian-American dishes may disqualify vegan diners, the gluten-free varieties offered by many local Italian restaurants are an encouraging sign for those with diverse dietary needs.
